Marshall men's soccer traveling in 2012, waits for new stadium in 2013

Marshall keeper Daniel Withrow ieads Herd into travel schedule for 2012 season.
HUNTINGTON - Marshall University has released its men's soccer schedule.
Much like the Herd baseball team in its Conference USA schedule, the men's team will be traveling all season due to its home field being built in 2012.
Marshall will open a new soccer complex at the site of the Veteran's Memorial Field House in Huntington, which is currently being torn down to make way for Marshall's Veteran's Memorial Soccer Complex to serve both the Herd's men's and women's soccer teams beginning in 2013.
The former Herd home, Sam Hood Field, is being demolished for a new 120-yard indoor facility, with a full football/soccer field and six-lane track, that will serve all athletic teams at Marshall by 2014.
Marshall will have two exhibitions, playing at long-time rival Rio Grande University on Aug. 15, then hosting the Pitt Panthers at Charleston's Fields of Coal Fields at Trace Fork Soccer Complex.
The Herd opens the season back at Trace Fork on August 24 with Wright State.
An October 3 meeting with Asbury does not have a site set at this time, but other home games will be played at nearby Hurricane High School, about 30 minutes from the MU campus in Putnam County on I-64 East/Teays Valley Road.
Marshall will host Conference USA rivals South Carolina, Kentucky, Florida International (the two SEC schools belong to C-USA for men's soccer, along with FIU -- who joins the league as a full member in 2013) and UCF at Hurricane, W.Va.
