HUNTINGTON - Marshall University’s Big Green Scholarship Foundation has a number of events every summer.

All of these events are “friend-raisers,” as the late Sam Stanley used to put it where new and long-time Marshall fans can get together to celebrate Thundering Herd successes and also contribute as “fundraisers” to the events happening on the MU campus in Herd Athletics.

Here are some of the Events coming up:

May 7: Opening Round of Big Green Coaches Tourn in Ashland, Kentucky

May 12: Help Herd To Upset The Ranked UCF Baseball Team

The Marshall Ticket Office and MU Big Green Scholarship Foundation will host a Herd Baseball Tailgate on Saturday, May 12 at Appalachian Power Park as the Herd battles No. 15-ranked UCF for the final time at “The APP.”

UCF will be joined by baseball playing Houston and Memphis in leaving Conference USA for the Big East in 2013-14, as well as SMU.

Cost of the event is $10/person with admission covering food, soft drinks, and your game ticket.

Game time is set for 2:05 p.m., with the tailgate beginning at 1:30 p.m. on the Budweiser Party Deck down the right field line, near the front entrance of Appalachian Power Park.

It will also be a day the Herd honors seniors like outfielder Eric Semeniuk, starting pitcher Mike Mason, catcher Thor Meeks, catcher Matt Kirkwood and closer Jesse Fernandez.

Come join us for the food, fun, salute the MU baseball seniors and will cheer for a big “W” for the Herd!

May 20: Cruise with the Big Green in Charlotte

Come celebrate Coach Doc Holiday’s bowl win and Coach Tom Herrion’s run through to the Conference USA basketball tournament finals and NIT appearance.

Hear Marshall Director of Athletics Mike Hamrick discuss the status of the $30 million Vision Campaign for athletic facility upgrades – including a new sound and ventilation systems in the Cam Henderson Center, a new Veterans’ Memorial soccer stadium, the new Indoor Practice Facility with a track, sports medicine, MU Hall of Fame for athletics  and more!

If you’ve already sent in your RSVP for the “2012 Big Green Coaches Tour Event” on May 20, thank you.  If you have not, please do so now.

$50 per person covers a 3-hours cruise on Lake Norman with the chance to meet and mingle with Marshall University coaches and Athletic Department leadership.  Beer, wine, sodas, and food provided.

What a great way to spend a May Sunday afternoon AND support Marshall University Athletics.

You will cast off from the Peninsula Yacht Club in Cornelius, N.C. at 4 p.m. for a three-hour cruise aboard the Luxury Charter yacht, “Yachta, Yachta, Yachta.”

Directions, instructions and other information will be sent out the week of the event.

If you missed the cruise last year, you will not want to miss it again.
