IRVING, Texas - Players from five different schools are represented on the 2010 All-Conference USA men's basketball first-team, featuring three repeat all-conference selections and two newcomers.
Seniors Aubrey Coleman of Houston and Ben Uzoh of Tulsa are joined by juniors Elijah Millsap of UAB and Randy Culpepper of UTEP, along with sophomore Elliot Williams of Memphis. All five players are guards. Voting on the awards was done by the C-USA head coaches and media members in each conference city.
Marshall senior Tyler Wilkerson and true freshman Hassan Whiteside were both named to the All-Conference USA second team. They are the first Marshall players named as high as the second team.
Mark Patton in 2006 and Markel Humphrey in 2007-08-09 were both named to the All-C-USA third time all four appearances. Marshall last had a second team all-conference selection when Marvin Black was named to the Mid-American Conference second team in 2004.
The Herd's last first team pick was J.R. VanHoose in 2001, when he was first team All-MAC.
Whiteside has also been named to The Sporting News All-American Freshman Team on the second team and is expected to be named to both the C-USA All-Frosh team and as the C-USA Freshman of the Year.
Wilkerson leads Marshall in scoring (13.9 ppg) and is second on the squad in rebounding (7.2) and blocks (1.1), and Wilkerson has scored 995 points in his career and is on verge of becoming 45th Marshall player to score 1,000 career points.
The senior from Lexington, Ky. recorded a career high 28 points against UAB Feb. 13. He is shooting 52 percent (154-of-296) from the field this season.
Wilkerson's 20 rebounds against North Carolina A&T were the most by a Herd player since Rodney Holden's 20 against The Citadel Jan. 18, 1986, and he blocked a career high seven shots against Lamar. His 18 career double-doubles are the third most among active Conference USA players.
Wilkerson could be only the second Marshall player in the record book with 1,000-points, 625-rebounds and over 100-blocks. Patton accomplished that first between 2003-06.
Whiteside is still added to his Conference USA record for most blocks in a season. On Feb. 24, Whiteside blocked four shots to pass Tulsa's Jerome Jordan total of 143 two seasons ago.

Whiteside reset the Conference USA and his own school record for most blocks in a game with 13 against UCF Feb. 27. He has blocked 168 shots this season. The 7-0 post player also broke the Marshall career blocks record against UCF on Feb. 27, breaking a record set by Omar Roland (1988-90) with 148.
Whiteside broke the Marshall school record for most blocks in a season when he recorded five against UAB Jan. 16, passing the old record of 101 which was set by Roland during the 1989-90 campaign. Whiteside currently leads Division I in blocked shots in the most recent report and is the Conference USA leader in the category.
Whiteside became the only Conference USA player to post three triple-doubles in a season against UCF when he scored 14 points, blocked 13 shots, and had 11 rebounds in Marshall's 121-115 triple overtime victory. He has been selected Conference USA Rookie of the Week six times (Nov. 30 - Dec. 13 - Jan. 17 - Jan. 24 - Feb. 22 - Mar. 1) this season.
Wilkerson and Whiteside are joined on the second team by Derrick Caracter of UTEP, Gary Flowers of Southern Miss and Jordan of Tulsa. It may be the tallest second team in C-USA history, with 7-foot Whiteside and Jordan, 6-foot-9 Caracter and the 6-foot-8 Wilkerson and Flowers.

Houston's Coleman is a repeat first-team selection and has been the nation's leading scorer this season, averaging 26.0 points per game. The guard from Houston, Texas, scored 420 points during the conference regular season, the second-highest total in league history. Coleman, who has led the Cougars in scoring in all but one game this season, enters this week's GMC Sierra C-USA Men's Basketball Championship with 1,400 points during his two years at UH. He was named C-USA Player of the Week five times this season.
Tulsa's Uzoh, a two-time second-team all-conference selection, leads the Golden Hurricane in scoring this season at 15.4 points per game, while adding 4.7 rebounds per game and 45 three-pointers made. He has moved into the top 10 in C-USA history in scoring, ranking seventh with 1,895 points. Uzoh is just the sixth player in Tulsa to history to score at least 400 points in three consecutive seasons.
UTEP's Culpepper made the jump from the all-conference third team to the first team as he helped guide the Miners to its first C-USA title with a 15-1 league record. The junior from Memphis, Tenn., enters the C-USA Championship ranked third in C-USA in scoring at 18.1 points per game.
Culpepper has led the Miners in scoring 14 times this season and has moved up fourth place in scoring all-time at UTEP with 1,597 points. He has topped the 30-point mark three times this year, including 45 points against East Carolina on Feb. 13, the most by any C-USA player this season and tied for second-most in league history, and 32 versus the Herd.
UAB's Millsap burst onto the scene this season, averaging 16.0 points per game (fifth in C-USA), while leading the league in rebounding (9.3) from his guard position. He is one of only two guards to rank among the top 40 players in rebounding in Division I. Millsap, the brother of Utah Jazz star Paul Millsap, tops the conference in double-doubles with 15 (second-most in UAB history).
Williams of Memphis has scored in double figures in 29 of 31 games this season and is currently averaging 18.5 points per game. He has topped the 20-point mark on 16 occasions, the fourth-highest single-season total in Tiger history. Williams also ranks in C-USA's top 10 in assists per game (3.8) and three-point field goals made (56).
SMU placed two student-athletes on the all-conference third team in junior forward Papa Dia and senior guard Derek Williams. The pair was joined by Memphis sophomore swingman Wesley Witherspoon and junior guards Brock Young of East Carolina and Aaron Johnson of UAB.
These 15 All-Conference players will be in action at this week's GMC Sierra C-USA Men's Basketball Championship, March 10-13 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla.
