Marshall gets commitment from Michael Selby

HUNTINGTON - Doc Holliday picked up his third commitment for the 2013 signing class, and for the third time it was an offensive lineman.
According to the recruiting website, Scout.com, Michael Selby, a three-star offensive guard from Sandersonville, Georgia, gave Marshall a commitment on Wednesday, June 20.
Selby is 6-feet-3-inches, and weighs 273, and can play both guard and center.
He finished his junior season with 86 “pancake” blocks, where a defender is blocked onto their backs on the field.
Selby also had offers from Mississippi State of the SEC and MTSU of the Sun Belt Conference, and had spoken with Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, UCF, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
He joins fellow offensive linemen Gerald Wright of Miami (Fla.) Northwestern HS and Cody Collins of Archbishop Alter HS in Kettering, Ohio in committing to the Herd for 2013.
Collins had offers from Bowling Green State and Toledo — according to Scout.com, while Rivals.com also said Ohio U. and Western Kentucky had offered — and had spoken to Michigan State, Notre Dame and Tennessee.
Wright has also spoken with Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Miami-Fla. and Ole’ Miss, according to Scout.com, and Rivals.com listed offers from Florida State, Ole’ Miss and Florida A&M.
Marshall lost out this past weekend on linebacker/fullback Elijah Wellman of nearby Spring Valley HS, who committed to West Virginia.
Wellman’s older brother, Zach, is a fullback for the Thundering Herd.
